Overview
The GESI & HSSE Associate will assist the project team in planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) aspects of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing HSSE documentation.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating GESI awareness and capacity-building sessions.
- Contribute to the preparation of GESI-related monitoring reports.
- Support the review and updating of HSSE management plans.
- Support the project team in conducting risk assessments and implementing preventive and corrective measures.
- Contribute to planning and conducting workplace inspections.
- Facilitate awareness-raising sessions on HSSE and PSEAH.
- Assist in preparing incident reports and supporting investigations.
- Assist in preparing reports related to PSEAH matters.
- Assist in developing monthly HSSE reports.
- Conduct regular and ad hoc field inspections and monitoring visits.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure consultation and grievance mechanisms are accessible.
- Assist in organizing and participating in regular HSSE meetings.
- Support efforts to ensure full compliance with UNOPS HSSE requirements.
- Assist in conducting GESI risk and opportunity assessments.
- Assist in implementing measures to minimize hazards and environmental impacts.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating contractor compliance with approved HSSE plans.
- Perform other need-based duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in Health, Safety, Social, and Environmental (HSSE) management of projects is required.
- Proven experience in conducting health and safety risk assessments, inspections, incident investigations, and facilitating related training sessions is required.
- Excellent English report-writing skills are required.
- Experience using computers and software packages (Google Workspace/Office) and handling web-based systems is required.
- Experience with G Suite tools such as Google Drive, Calendar, Gmail, Sheets, Docs, and Slides.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, social science, or any other relevant field.
