Overview
The Mine Action Specialist will be responsible for the co-ordination of Mine Action activities across five pillars and ensuring technical backstopping of projects implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage mine action I/Ps and other staff.
- Contribute to setting operational priorities and advise on cost-effective operations.
- Provide technical expertise and support on land release activities, including surveys, clearance, and EOD.
- Oversee procurement of specialized vehicles and equipment.
- Oversee capacity development support to national Mine Action operators.
- Monitor Mine Action contract performances and contribute to negotiations.
- Contribute to project's annual work plans and develop monitoring mechanisms.
- Monitor achievement of financial targets.
- Ensure mainstreaming of gender equality considerations.
- Plan and execute field missions and maintain quality assurance.
- Support establishment of relationships with stakeholders.
- Explore and build relationships with new partners.
- Establish new partnerships and develop synergies.
- Participate in and contribute to coordination meetings.
- Support design, coordination, and dissemination of public information products.
- Facilitate knowledge and capacity building.
- Ensure project reports capture results, lessons learned and good practices.
- Support establishment of knowledge platforms.
Required Experience
• Minimum 5 years (with Master’s degree) or 7 years (with Bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience, at national or international level, in coordination / management of mine action field operations with quality management functions.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Project Management or Public Administration, or Business Administration, or Social Sciences, or Economics, or Jurisprudence, or Military Engineering or any other related fields is required, OR
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in the areas stated above, in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience, will be given due consideration in lieu of Master ́s degree.
