Overview

Assist in coordinating the implementation of media and communications-related activities in IOM Country Office (CO) to promote an accurate narrative on migration-related issues.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in coordinating CO’s external communications activities.
  • Support the preparation of Media Lines to Take in crisis situations.
  • Provide technical inputs on communications issues to the Senior Management Team (SMT).
  • Assist in the development and implementation of project-level communications plans.
  • Review external communications content and provide editorial recommendations.
  • Support the organization of high profile visibility events and media interviews.
  • Maintain the CO’s online presence, including social media accounts and website.
  • Monitor the CO’s branding, public visibility and advocacy efforts.
  • Strengthen IOM’s links with media in-country.
  • Draft media key messages, Statements, talking points and other relevant background documents.
  • Undertake duty travel to gather material for multi-media content.
  • Ensure that Media and Communications content is clear and concise, and that digital informed consent is secured.
  • Verify that there is appropriate gender, diversity and inclusion awareness in all IOM external communications.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to the CO’s Media and Communications staff.
  • Contribute to strengthening CO’s communications capacity by developing training materials, providing training and technical guidance.
Required Experience
  • Experience as a writer, editor and content producer/manager in international Journalism and/or public information roles, preferably in the Region.
  • Experience in digital communications and social media.
  • Experience in corporate writing and editing.
  • Experience in managing donor visibility.
  • Experience in advertising and branding.
  • Experience with media liaison.
  • Experience in humanitarian communications.
  • Experience working in the region and/or in an emergency setting an advantage.
  • Experience in working in UN or other International organizations.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Business Administration, Political or Social Sciences, or a related field from an accredited academic institution; or,
  • University degree in one of the above fields with two years of relevant professional experience.

Fluency in Korean and English is required (oral and written).
