Overview

The Translation and Communications Intern will support the Communications, Innovation and Partnerships team of UNDP China by translating various materials and assisting with communications and outreach activities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Translates communications materials including Op-eds, press releases, speeches, and media/social media related articles.
  • Translates project-related documents such as ProDocs, annual work plans, concept notes, and event programmes.
  • Translates reports and other internal and external publications.
  • Provides interpreting/translation services for high-level visits and events.
  • Monitors media exposure, drafts media summaries, and conducts basic analysis.
  • Drafts content and designs layouts for social media articles and posts.
  • Assists in preparing communications and public-private partnerships outreach materials.
  • Assists in research, compiling background materials, statistical data, and briefing notes.
  • Assists in on-site event support.
Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Have recently graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
  • Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
  • Major in English (translation), international relations, communications, journalism, or other relevant fields.

Languages Required
• Good oral and written communication ability in both English and Chinese
Languages Preferred
• Having overseas study experience will be an asset • Having extra skills that can be applied to online/offline communications (i.e. graphic design, photo editing, WeChat layout, etc.) will be an asset

Remuneration
• Interns may be given a stipend according to the UNDP Internship Policies, if is not financially supported by any institution or programme, such as a university, government, foundation or scholarship programme.
