Overview

Provide advisory services and technical support for food systems transformation in the Europe and Central Asia region, aligning with the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub's mandate and workplan.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advice on policy, governance, finance, and science-related activities.
  • Ensure follow-up to requests for technical support on policy matters.
  • Produce written outputs on regional policy issues.
  • Contribute technical elements to speaking points.
  • Support the Hub’s engagement in global policy discussions.
  • Facilitate policy alignment and coherence.
  • Identify strategic regional partners and create communication channels.
  • Liaise with National Convenors, UN Resident Coordinators, UN Regional Directors, UN Representatives, regional bodies, coalitions, and key food systems partners.
  • Support the FAOREU Secretariat of the Issue-based Coalition on Sustainable Food Systems (IBC-SFS).
  • Facilitate knowledge management, exchange of lessons-learned and best practices, peer learning, and cooperation amongst countries.
  • Serve as the regional focal point for national convenors.
  • Develop strategies to enhance engagement and capacity of convenors.
  • Support review process of Food System Pathways.
  • Support the organization of regional meetings, side events, and webinars.
  • Organize and co-facilitate Convergence Initiative Workshops.
  • Participate in workshops or conferences to present the Convergence Initiative.
  • Respond to country requests, needs assessment, and project formulation.
  • Foster effective collaboration among UN partners and member countries.
  • Support implementation of activities under other relevant initiatives of the Hub.
  • Support information exchange with the FAO Country Office food systems focal point network.
Required Experience
  • 5 years of relevant experience providing advisory services in the area of sustainable development policy, partnerships and or governance.
  • Familiarity with the work of UN FS Coordination Hub or other multilateral organizations.
  • Knowledge of the content of global agendas such as the 2030 Agenda, the Paris Agreement and Agenda 2063.
  • Knowledge and expertise in food systems and sustainable development in Europe and Central Asia region.
Qualifications

• Advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in sustainable development, environment, economics, law, social studies or other area related to food systems transformation and UN FS Coordination Hub work.

• Working knowledge of Russian will be considered as an asset
