Overview

Oversee the overall management and implementation of the Country Office’s programme activities in the areas of migration, including humanitarian assistance, early recovery, transition and development.


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the overall development, implementation and monitoring of programme activities.
  • Develop the CO’s programme overview and schedule major activities.
  • Lead the development and implementation of donor and partner outreach strategies.
  • Develop and maintain government working relationships and liaison with key officials.
  • Establish liaison and maintain dialogue with relevant stakeholders for coordination and promotion of new activities.
  • Ensure integrated approach to CO’s programming required support functions.
  • Provide overall guidance to Programme Managers on project development, public information, donor relations, government liaison and information management.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Heads of Sub-Offices on CO’s priorities, policies and strategies.
  • Identify programme strategic priorities to expand partnership basis and scope of activities.
  • Act as Focal Point for government liaison and oversee CO’s correspondence and reporting to government authorities.
  • Represent the CO in inter-agency fora.
  • Lead knowledge management and capacity building activities in CO.
  • Prepare policy guidance notes, documentation and briefs for COM and senior management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
  • Extensive experience in programme formulation, implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in staff management.
  • Experience working in a humanitarian, emergency, or complex operating environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with governmental and authorities, international agencies (i.e., UN), and civil society organizations.
  • Experience in project development, implementation, and reporting, including financial and budgetary aspects.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Business or Public Administration, International Studies or a related field from an accredited academic institution with seven years of relevant professional experience; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with nine years of relevant professional experience.

Languages Required
Fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
Contract Duration
One year with possibility of extension
