Overview
Internship opportunity within the NATO International Military Staff (IMS) Situation Centre, Geo & Space Services Section, focusing on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to support NATO's decision-making process.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and standardize spatial datasets and use them to build interactive story maps and dashboards.
- Implement or configure web-based GIS applications.
- Create scripts to automate geospatial data processing workflows.
- Prototype simple Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) workflows and integrate pre-trained GeoAI models.
- Conduct any other tasks as requested by the Head of Section.
Required Experience
- Have knowledge and academic experience in working with Geographic Information Systems.
- Have knowledge and academic experience in developing web-based applications and data automation workflows.
- Have a Bachelor's degree or in the final stage of a Master’s degree relevant to the requested area of expertise (desirable).
- Be an advance user of IT tools including Microsoft Office, SharePoint (desirable).
- Have knowledge and academic experience with artificial intelligence applications, preferably applied to geospatial data (desirable).
- Previous experience with other international organizations, national administration, research or industry (desirable).
Qualifications
• At least two years of university level studies OR equivalent education OR be currently a student OR a recent graduate (degree obtained no longer than 12 months ago).
