Overview
The Advocacy and Communication Specialist will manage communication needs and support advocacy work for the IRC Bangladesh program. This role involves gathering information from the field, assisting with media relations, and producing communication materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a communication & media strategy and annual action plan.
- Manage the communication budget.
- Build and maintain strategic stakeholder relationships.
- Lead media engagement and strengthen IRC’s public profile.
- Drive coordinated media outreach and visibility efforts.
- Position IRC as a communication leader.
- Produce high-quality communication materials, including press releases, backgrounders, Q&As, and emergency updates.
- Provide capacity building to staff on collecting and writing stories, photography, branding, and media risk mitigation.
- Ensure the team can develop high-quality advocacy and communication products.
- Help develop program-oriented communication plans during donor proposal writing.
- Ensure donor visibility compliance.
- Collect, capture, and document project activities and needs in the form of human stories, case studies, and creative content.
- Produce SITREPs and daily updates during emergencies.
- Visit field sites to document client needs and success stories.
- Ensure all materials adhere to branding and marking requirements.
Required Experience
- At least 7 years of experience in both the humanitarian and development sectors
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial position
- Cross-cultural experience
- Proven experience in digital communication
- Proven experience to work on graphics design, photography, videography, PowerPoint, Microsoft word and excel
- Proven ability to write and produce publications like annual reports and storybooks
Qualifications
- Master’s in communications/journalism / English or any relevant field.
- Professional degree / Certification: Post Graduate Degree in Mass Communication/Journalism will be given preference.
