Overview
The Finance Officer is responsible for the daily financial operations of the Save the Children International Ukraine East Area Office, Dnipro, ensuring adherence to the Finance Manual and resolving queries promptly.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain complete books of accounts as per SCI-Ukraine CO Finance Manual.
- Prepare Bank and cash General Ledger and Cash Offline Spreadsheet (GLACOS), and perform daily financial data entry.
- Ensure all payments are properly coded and authorized as per SCI-Ukraine Scheme of Delegation.
- Ensure segregation of duty for financial management tasks.
- Follow up on prepayments and manage schedules on the Financial Management system (FMS).
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all bank accounts.
- Track balance sheet accounts monthly and at the end of each award.
- Maintain Asset & liabilities monthly schedules & reconciliations.
- Monitor cash & bank flows daily and coordinate with financial institutions.
- Safeguard SCI- cash from assessed / known risks.
- Assist FC during Internal & external audits and donor specific audits.
- Assist FC in submitting all Internal & external financial reports in a timely manner.
- Review official e-mails daily and respond to queries from suppliers and colleagues.
- Ensure reporting position complies with SCI-Ukraine policy & procedures and arrange on/off job trainings.
Required Experience
- Previous 1-2 years financial management experience with good numeracy skills.
- Experience of working in a multi-currency environment.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately and attention to detail especially under pressure.
- Good MS Excel and analytical skills, ability to work with large amounts of data.
- Good organization and administration skills.
- Good communication skills on the phone, face-to-face and in writing.
- An energetic, flexible and proactive approach with the ability to work both independently and co-operatively within a team setting.
- Ability to work within set guidelines for the payment of invoices/expenses and identify instances when the guidelines are not being followed.
- Knowledge any other automated financial system (Desirable).
- Experience of working for emergency responses (Desirable).
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
