Overview
The MEAL Coordinator will lead the implementation of MEAL plans within the Area Office, focusing on standardized MEAL systems and processes. The role holder will support project teams in baselines, end-lines, outcome-level analysis, and documenting project evidence and learning, while strengthening accountability to children and communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure correct storage of data and Information along with data confidentiality
- Support in having harmonized and consolidated means of verification
- Contribute to the development of MEAL monthly and annual plans
- Support the integration and adaptation of MEAL systems during emergency responses
- Validate the IPTT, output tracker and other needed data on a monthly basis
- Establish and enforce data management processes
- Oversee the implementation of the project/program MEAL plans
- Liaise with the Program Managers to update MEAL active grants on monthly basis
- Conduct monitoring field visit for partners and SCI activities as needed
- Ensure systematic implementation and proper documentation of quality benchmarks
- Update the SAT system and coordinate with the MEAL officers and partners for reporting and verification
- Incorporate MEAL related data into donor reports
- Add all projects on Activity info and follow up with the MEAL officers and program teams to report on relevant indicators
- Participate in project Kick-off and close out workshops
- Analyze outcome level data including baseline and end-line data
- Coordinate with TAs and Head Office RMEAL Manager on tools development
- Coordinate with IM team to ensure the coding of MEAL tools on Kobo and their testing
- Ensure that programme teams and partners are using appropriate data collection tools
- Coordinate the monthly reporting process on the sit-rep and updating the service mapping
- Support the Head Office RMEAL Manager in reporting on MEAL KPIs
- Support Head Office RMEAL Manager in programmatic evidence building
- Support Head Office RMEAL Manager with national and project level research
- Support in the process of conducting project review meetings and lessons learned
- Prepare lessons learnt reports and assist with the documentation of the remote monitoring approach
- Support Head Office RMEAL department in end of project evaluations and needs assessments
- Support in the coordination of rapid needs assessments and real-time monitoring and evaluation during humanitarian emergencies
- Contribute to a strong understanding of child rights principles, accountability to children and communities and child participation
- Ensure Accountability mechanisms are in place for each of the project within his/her portfolio
- Support child and community participation processes across the project cycle
- Ensure field level feedback is handled in line with the agreed Feedback Handling Standard Operating Procedure
- Support in the referral of feedback to the appropriate teams/focal points
- Support processes to close the feedback loop
- Support humanitarian accountability mechanisms including feedback and complaints systems adapted for emergencies
- Conduct partners MEAL capacity assessment
- Train partners on agreed project MEAL systems
- Train, coach and mentor partners on tools, indicators and how to measure them
- Train partners on baselines, evaluations, data management and analysis
- Train partners on accountability system
- Ensure that MEAL Officer trains the partner on IPTT, data collection and databases
- Work closely with partners on development of IPTT and MEAL plans
- Coordinate with local partners in what relates to the implementation of MEAL plans
- Ensure that MEAL/IM Officers understand and are able to perform their role
- Support in the identification of capacity building needs and provide capacity building support
- Actively support team cohesion and a positive work environment
- Manage the performance of the MEAL/IM Officer/s
- Train MEAL/IM Officers on data quality control, storage and analysis
- Make sure that volunteers are trained on SCI safeguarding policies
- Participate in relevant MEAL training opportunities
- Facilitate evidence-based decision-making by synthesizing MEAL findings and producing actionable recommendations for program teams.
Required Experience
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience
- Preferably 3 years in the field of MEAL
- Experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research and assessments
- Proven experience in establishing coordination mechanisms
Qualifications
• A university degree in Data Science, Statistics, Public Health, or an equivalent field
