Overview
The community-based paralegals will work closely with urbanized project staff, authorities and the ICLA team in Dhusamareeb to conduct HLP diligence, land verification, and community engagement on land tenure. Their role is to ensure access to land documentation for displacement-affected communities and enhance accountability of legal support.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct HLP diligence and land verification processes.
- Conduct community engagement sessions on land tenure.
- Ensure access to land documentation for displacement-affected communities.
- Conduct outreach to monitor, identify, and document eviction threats.
- Engage with community members, IDP representatives, and local leaders.
- Provide referrals for high-risk eviction cases.
- Deliver information and counselling on HLP rights.
- Organize and participate in information sessions.
- Assist in community-based assessments.
- Support mapping of service providers and update referral pathways.
- Document and report on outreach and engagement activities.
- Support planning and implementation of ICLA activities.
- Assist with distribution and communication of legal awareness materials.
- Strengthen linkages between the community and NRC services.
- Maintain communication with the ICLA team for technical guidance.
- Coordinate with other NRC field teams.
- Monitor the quality and impact of services.
- Submit weekly and monthly reports.
- Carry out administrative tasks related to field activities.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by NRC management.
Required Experience
- Minimum of One year of previous experience in Protection or ICLA.
- Experience working in Dhusamareb, Somalia.
- Technical with the local context and IDP-related challenges.
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
Qualifications
• University graduate in law, or Social Science.
