Overview

This internship opportunity is located in the Executive Office of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Bonn, Germany. It is focused on supporting the Evaluation Office and will also assist in the work of the Office of the Deputy Executive Secretary.


Key Responsibilities
  • - Compilation and analysis of data for internal monitoring, as collected from all UNCCD units;
  • Assistance in the preparation of the COP 17 document concerning performance monitoring;
  • Assistance in the follow-up of the UNCCD evaluation recommendations, and in ensuring that the recommendations become implemented and their status recorded in a timely manner;
  • Assistance in further developing the intranet page of the Evaluation Office;
  • Support to the work of the Office of the Deputy Executive Secretary, as may be needed;
  • Support to other tasks of the Executive Office, as needed.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UNCCD Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications
  • - Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Applicants are required to have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Teams.

Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
The internship is unpaid. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
