Overview

Assists in appraising, adjusting, and presenting project proposals, and monitoring programme execution for the Accelerate-to-Demonstrate (A2D) Facility. The role focuses on promoting effective project management and developing technical cooperation projects.


Key Responsibilities
  • Locate and analyze economic, environmental, and social data relevant to the A2D Facility and its projects.
  • Identify, describe, and justify project possibilities consistent with approved technical cooperation programmes.
  • Appraise, review, and adjust project proposals for consistency with national, sub-regional, regional, and sectoral priorities.
  • Formulate and present project proposals for final review and approval.
  • Develop schedules, arrangements, and methods for project execution management.
  • Exchange information with government officials and donor agencies for project formulation and execution.
  • Monitor and expedite project execution through progress reports, evaluations, and corrective decision-making.
  • Organize and conduct briefings and debriefings on projects.
  • Develop understanding of multilateral and bilateral initiatives in climate innovation.
  • Organize events, workshops, webinars, and outreach activities to enhance visibility.
  • Ensure robust internal reporting, record-keeping, and external dissemination of activities and results.
  • Collect and verify data for donor reporting and meet "Logframe" milestones.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the A2D Facility Manager, Division Director, or Managing Director.
Required Experience
  • At least five (5) years of professional experience in technical cooperation project management or portfolio project management of climate-related or innovation-related projects, including some exposure at the international level is required.
  • Experience in technical cooperation project management or portfolio project management in developing country contexts, and in evaluating the needs, conditions and problems in developing countries, is desirable.
  • Ability to research and analyze information independently and recommend solutions is required.
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-cultural teams is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in the thematic areas-of-focus of the A2D Facility, such as clean hydrogen, industrial decarbonization, smart energy or critical minerals, or related areas such as sustainable cooling and transport decarbonization is desirable.
Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in fields that include climate, energy, environmental management and assessment, engineering, social sciences or other relevant discipline is required.

Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
Languages Preferred
Fluency and/or working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is desirable.
