Overview
The Programme Policy Officer (Programme Coordinator) will provide programme coordination and leadership for WFP staff in Karnali province, engaging with provincial, district, and local level governments to support food systems transformation and nutrition-sensitive social protection programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to identifying, establishing and maintaining sustainable partnerships.
- Provide project management support to active WFP programming.
- Provide technical assistance support to local levels on nutrition-sensitive social protection programmes.
- Work with the Provincial Ministry to provide technical assistance in the preparation and implementation of annual workplans and guidelines.
- Support capacity strengthening activities to local governments in operationalizing the home-grown school feeding framework.
- Build effective and collaborative relations with local authorities.
- Represent WFP in coordination structures in Karnali province and provide programme guidance and oversight to WFP staff.
- Provide guidance to support staff, acting as a point of referral and assisting them with analysis and queries.
- Other as required.
Required Experience
- At least one year of post-graduate (Master degree) professional experience in implementing technical assistance programmes at field level (i.e., education, agriculture, nutrition, food systems, etc.).
- Experience working in multisectoral platforms and coordinating groups of diverse stakeholders.
- Strong experience and proven track record contributing to design and implementation of programmes.
- Must have deep knowledge and experience on food systems transformation and nutrition-sensitive social protection programmes.
- Experience in negotiations, communications, and resource mobilization are valuable assets.
- Additional years of experience are an asset.
Qualifications
Advanced university (Master) degree in education, nutrition, agriculture, food systems, public health, development studies, social sciences, international development, or related field or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and /or training / courses.
