Overview

To support the Displacement and Evacuation Centre Management (DECM) Cluster in strengthening preparedness, coordination, information management, and operational readiness at national and provincial levels under the Sef Ples Blong Yumi Phase II project.


Key Responsibilities
  • Attend to regular coordination meetings, producing agendas, minutes, and action trackers.
  • Support in updating evacuation centre mapping and inventory.
  • Attend to Evacuation Centre Management Committees (ECMCs).
  • Support and coordinate facilitators for the roll-out of NECMG and Evacuation Center Management (ECM) Toolbox.
  • Regular collection, consolidation, and submission of EC and displacement data.
  • Up-to-date partner activity mapping and identification and reporting of gaps and overlaps.
  • Participate in simulations and/or emergency responses, producing After Action Review or lessons learned inputs.
  • Assist in monthly activity reports, field visit reports, and coordination briefs.
  • Conduct On-the-job coaching and mentoring.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 3 years facilitating trainings/community capacity-building (EC management, DRR, WASH, Shelter/Protection preferred).
  • Experience working with government (NDMO/Provincial Government/Area Councils), NGOs or community groups in Vanuatu.
Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in Disaster Management, Public Health, Social Sciences, Education, or equivalent experience.

Languages Required
Fluency in Bislama and English language is required.
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of French is an advantage.
Contract Duration
Up to 11 months
Work Modality
Duty travel across Vanuatu, to remote and rural Area Councils, to coordinate evacuation center management and to liaise with counterparts which is required as per training schedule; approved per IOM procedures. Training schedule may require longer stints (of up to several weeks) travelling to facilitate trainings.
