Overview
Provide key inputs and analyses for the eco-and-adventure tourism sector strategy, prepare and accompany a scoping mission, and contribute to the mission report and findings.
Key Responsibilities
- Map institutional framework, national programmes, policies, strategies, and development partners' contributions to the eco-and-adventure tourism sector.
- Map the eco-and-adventure tourism sector value chain and key actors.
- Provide insights on the dynamics of selected eco- and adventure tourism areas.
- Assess the market size of the domestic industry and compile data on licensed guides, accommodation providers, transport services, attractions/experience providers, tour operators, certification schemes, and training institutions.
- Support the assessment of the implementation level of the Botswana Tourism Master Plan (2022–2032).
- Identify and prepare a list of participants for the mission meetings.
- Provide guidance on stakeholder engagement strategies.
- Follow up on communications to secure and confirm meetings.
- Accompany the expert to meetings and provide relevant industry inputs.
- Prepare and share consolidated notes from mission meetings.
- Provide inputs and feedback to the final mission and technical report.
Required Experience
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the tourism sector in Botswana
- Experience conducting stakeholder consultations, interviews, and writing strategic documents.
- Work experience in trade development issues.
Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree (MA/MSc/MBA, PHD or other).
- An advanced university degree in relevant discipline (e.g., tourism, economics, international trade and/or business administration).
- Extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree.
