Overview

Support the implementation of shelter and infrastructure activities, including disaster risk reduction measures, in areas affected by disasters, displacement, returns, and reintegration. The role involves technical assessments, site planning, construction monitoring, and coordination.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of shelter solutions across various spectrums.
  • Assist in the construction and rehabilitation of household, communal latrines, and public infrastructures.
  • Contribute to field technical assessments by collecting data, taking measurements, and drafting scopes of work.
  • Prepare draft technical drawings and Bill of Quantities (BoQs).
  • Support the identification and evaluation of vendors and service providers.
  • Carry out regular on-site and remote monitoring of construction activities.
  • Support the integration of DRR measures into programming.
  • Assist in organizing and conducting community-level awareness and training sessions.
  • Promote community engagement and ownership.
Required Experience
  • University degree in Engineering or Architecture or related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience or School diploma with five years of relevant experience.
  • Transitional, semi-durable, and long-term shelters, as well as household communal latrine construction and public infrastructure rehabiliation.
  • Experience in supporting infrastructure works, such as site assessments, BoQ preparation, technical drawings, and supervision of public facilities.
  • Experience in facilitating community sensitization and capacity building.
  • Experience in supporting procurement processes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and basic GIS or mapping tools.
  • Experience in applying DRR measures, including hazard-resistant construction techniques and safe site planning in humanitarian or return contexts will be considered an asset.
Qualifications
  • University degree in Engineering or Architecture or related field from an accredited academic institution or School diploma.
  • Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
