Overview
The Regional Migration Health Nurse Coordinator will substantively support the Migration Health Division’s nursing leadership structure and carry out duties related to the Migration Health Assessment Programme across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain optimal workflow, efficiency, and client satisfaction in migration health assessment nursing and clerical activities.
- Provide technical advice and coordination for vaccination programmes.
- Backstop and monitor resource management in Health Assessment Programmes (HAPs).
- Promote the implementation of best practice standards for nursing activities.
- Coordinate and facilitate nurse education programs.
- Coordinate clear communication strategies for sharing clinical practice resources.
- Monitor clinical practice across HAP operations.
- Serve as Regional Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Officer.
- Coordinate and oversee Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) surveillance.
- Monitor epidemiological trends relevant to vaccine-preventable diseases.
- Coordinate and implement a sound monitoring system of medical document flow and data entry.
- Ensure pharmacy, stock, medical kits and emergency kits are monitored.
- Assess and recommend purchase of medical supplies.
- Support regional pre-departure health activities.
- Prepare and finalize medical and administrative reports.
- Plan and organize mobile or surge missions.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the RHAPC and/or relevant CMHOs.
- Contribute to technical medical oversight, planning, monitoring, and follow-up of IOM migration health assessment programmes.
- Coordinate, and perform if needed, medical escort duties.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with various partners.
- Prepare, compile and finalize relevant surveys statistical information.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
- Master’s degree in nursing with five years of relevant professional experience, at least two years in a management role; or
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing with seven years of relevant clinical experience, three years in a management role.
- Working experience in Tuberculosis management, mass immunizations, communicable diseases, laboratory testing or public health is an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in implementation of QC/QA principles is mandatory.
- Experience in developing guidelines and instructions for nursing services is desirable.
- Knowledge and experience of using IOM Databases and Application is an advantage.
- Previous international experience in HAP is a distinctive advantage.
- Computer literacy required: MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Access).
- Nursing experience in international and national settings.
- Involvement in review and accreditation of nursing degrees and diplomas.
- Demonstrated senior level managerial skills is mandatory.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited academic institution; or
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
