Overview
The Communication & Social Media Intern will support the ERCOM Unit in delivering audience-focused communication across web and social media, and strengthen IOM's public presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, edit and proof short and long-form content in Dutch and English.
- Help plan editorial calendars, prepare copy and basic graphics/video, and schedule/monitor social media performance.
- Track KPIs and compile insights to inform content iteration.
- Publish and update website pages/articles and support newsletter production.
- Scan relevant migration news and policy updates, and draft succinct summaries.
- Assist with communications around events/outreach.
- Apply IOM standards for responsible communication, consent, data protection, and safeguarding.
- Maintain content folders, track requests, schedule meetings, and support general team workflows.
Required Experience
- Basic video/photo editing and design experience
- Content management on social media & website
- Experience with NGO/public-sector communications or migration-related topics
Qualifications
- Candidates must be (a) enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree; or (b) enrolled in a graduate programme; or (c) a recent graduate who will start the internship within one year of graduation.
- Field of study: Communications, journalism, international relations, political/social sciences, public policy, or related.
