Overview

The Head, Strategic Communications leads a team to support NATO’s role in Ukraine, promoting the NATO Representation Office and its activities to internal and external audiences. The role involves collaboration with NATO HQ and Ukrainian counterparts to strengthen deterrence and defence, demonstrate NATO’s support, and build strategic communications capabilities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop expertise within the NRU communications team.
  • Support the development and implementation of advisory and capacity building support to Ukrainian authorities in Strategic Communications.
  • Continue analysing needs on the Ukrainian side and design programmes.
  • Contribute to advancing NATO efforts to counter information threats.
  • Oversee all strategic communications programmes.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the NRU’s Communication team.
  • Oversee finances related to NRU communications activities.
  • Implement the NATO-Ukraine Action Plan and OSC activities and work plans.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with key relevant stakeholders.
  • Leverage data and insights from NATO OSC and Allies.
  • Oversee media visits, activities and participate in NATO sponsored seminars/events.
  • Represent NATO on various communications boards/mechanisms.
  • Oversee developing and maintaining NATO’s communications networks and stakeholders in Ukraine.
  • Oversee the dissemination of NATO publications, audio-visual productions and information in Ukraine.
  • Advise NATO HQ in the elaboration of products for the Ukrainian market.
  • Advice on and expand NATO information and communications outreach via online, digital and social media.
  • Provide regular analysis of the full information environment.
  • Perform any other related duty as assigned.
Required Experience
  • At least seven years of relevant professional experience in planning, implementing, monitoring and assessing a broad range of strategic communications activities with managerial experience.
  • Experience in media and digital outreach, communications campaigns, developing and using information environment assessment.
  • Excellent knowledge of international affairs, and security and defence policies.
  • Previous work in/on Ukraine and/or Central Eastern Europe (advantage).
  • Experience working with senior level officials (advantage).
  • Strong background in public outreach work on a range of channels, including media appearances (advantage).
Qualifications

• University degree in a relevant discipline (social sciences, international relations, strategic communications).

• V (“Advanced”) in English. • I (“Beginner”) in French.
Languages Preferred
• Advanced language level in Ukrainian (advantage).
Contract Duration
Definite duration contract of one year; possibility of renewal for up to three years (1 year + 1 year + 1 year).
