Overview

The Protection from Violence Specialist position is responsible for the technical development, strategic direction, and quality assurance of the Protection from Violence Core Competency in Sudan. This role involves mentoring, training, and capacity building staff on technical capacities related to the prevention of and response to violence.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Protection from Violence Core Competency (CC) strategy, technical guidance and macro-log frames.
  • Contribute to fundraising, develop and revise funding proposals, budgets and donor reports.
  • Follow up on compliance with contractual commitments within Protection from Violence CC.
  • Provide technical direction and project implementation support.
  • Provide systematic training and build capacity of technical staff.
  • Represent NRC in relevant working groups.
  • Promote the rights of refugees/host communities.
  • Provide technical oversight of protection from violence team(s).
  • Provide analysis of data collected and produce recommendations regarding key protection trends and risks.
  • Develop tools, SOPs, and provide advice on technical standards.
  • Contextualize UDOC standards modalities.
  • Strengthen area-based coordination mechanisms.
  • Ensure area based strategic local partnerships.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 4 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing technical standards for core areas of protection from violence programming (including Site Management or UDOC experience).
  • Experience in creating and implementing referral pathways.
  • Experience with Start-up is an advantage.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of team capacity strengthening, including remote coaching, mentoring and training.
  • Experience managing a complex protection programme including implementation, programme development, fundraising and budget development.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in related field such as international law, international development, or social sciences (desirable).
  • Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in the preferred fields will be considered if relevant work experience considerably exceeds the minimum requirement of 4 years.
