Overview
This role supports a programme delivering new headquarters facilities by leading Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) engineering and ensuring building systems work together. It contributes to the delivery of safe, reliable, modern facilities through design decisions, risk management, and value/cost improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate requirements and monitor the delivery of MEP systems.
- Liaise with the Host Nation (HN) on technical acceptability, fair values, and project inspection progress.
- Monitor execution documents for compliance with user requirements and best practice.
- Maintain audits and logs of non-compliance and off-specifications.
- Review engineering plans, specifications, and drawings.
- Coordinate engineering updates, challenges, and progress, and report on changes and their impact.
- Liaise with SHAPE MGT BSG and external stakeholders on O&M related topics.
- Assist in the handover process by ensuring as-built documentation is complete.
- Coordinate with the Host Nation (HN) for training and knowledge transfer sessions related to MEP.
- Generate reports and metrics on project performance and compliance.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends, conducting assessments and making recommendations.
- Support the Risk Management Process and contribute to issue logs and risk registers.
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) advice on user and technical requirements changes.
- Prepare narrative reports explaining electrical mechanical risks and issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Advise on electrical mechanical specialist areas, standards, methods, tools, and applications.
- Apply value engineering and technical innovation.
Required Experience
- 2 years post related experience working on a large scale construction project, dealing with a variety of stakeholders, managing requirements and changes, and providing SMEs advice.
- Post related experience in project processes to include aspects such as full life-cycle management, configuration management, risk management, field surveys, acceptance and handover.
- Knowledge of technical building systems, including Building Management Systems (BMS), energy performance and SMART building systems.
- Knowledge of European and HN(BEL) regulation with regards to construction works, tender documentation and heath & safety.
- Experience in contract oversight and/or contract performance monitoring (desirable).
- Knowledge in facility management (desirable).
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for compliance and quality assurance (desirable).
- Experience of engineering system implementation in classified/hardened facilities (desirable).
Qualifications
- University degree in electrical and/or mechanical engineering, or equivalent disciplines and 2 years function related experience OR Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience.
- Knowledge of BREEAM or similar certifications (desirable).
- Prince 2 or any other related project management certificate (desirable).
- Management of Risk (M_o_R) or any other risk management certificate (desirable).
- Knowledge of ISO 19650 - Building Information modelling (BIM) (desirable).
- Knowledge of one or more of the following software: AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud (desirable).
