Overview
The Access Assistant will support the country office in implementing access and security strategies and work plans. This role is essential for ensuring a coordinated approach to humanitarian access, enabling WFP to execute its programs and maximize assistance to vulnerable populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to refining operational modalities due to access constraints.
- Support the operationalization and monitoring of alternative operational modalities.
- Support the design of access and negotiation tactics.
- Proactively collect information from partners and stakeholders.
- Conduct a review of secondary data and compile an inventory of available assessments.
- Create and maintain contact directories.
- Support global access initiatives and liaison with HQ and international access units.
- Contribute to WFP's participation in Access Working Group (AWG) meetings.
- Liaise with OCHA and national humanitarian access focal points.
- Support food security sector coordination.
- Contribute to the review of food security and nutrition analysis.
- Contribute to local security analysis.
- Transmit critical information impacting operations and personnel movements.
- Participate in the assessment of routes and operational areas.
- Ensure close coordination with the security team.
- Provide technical support for security assessments, risk analyses, and operational planning.
- Maintain close relationships with local authorities, humanitarian actors, and security agencies.
- Contribute to securing and expanding WFP operations through negotiations.
Required Experience
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in humanitarian access, security management, and community engagement in conflict settings.
Qualifications
• University degree or equivalent, preferably in social sciences, politics, management, communication, or other related fields.
