Overview
The National Access Officer will contribute to the analysis of the humanitarian situation and support WFP's role in engaging humanitarian access with various actors in Haiti.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to contextual scans and access risk assessments.
- Contribute to the regular reporting system of access incidents.
- Develop and maintain an overview of the state of conflict and insecurity.
- Contribute to the development and updating of a mapping of actors.
- Document best practices and learnings.
- Inform management of new opportunities to improve engagement on access.
- Work with Sub-Office Access Assistants to develop standard operating procedures.
- Support and advise technical units on components, good practices, key actors and concerns.
- Provide assistance on engagement considerations of humanitarian and non-humanitarian actors.
- Identify risks related to programmatic and operational access and propose mitigation measures.
- Support the strengthening and establishment of sustainable multi-functional operational coordination.
- Support efforts to strengthen the capacity of WFP staff.
- Ensure and support access assistants in the coordination and monitoring of activities.
- Monitor interagency access engagements and structures.
- Strengthen and maintain sustainable coordination with partners.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Experience
- Typically one year or more of professional experience related to humanitarian, development, civil work, community engagement in Haiti.
- Demonstrated experience in humanitarian access negotiations is required.
- Other relevant experiences that will be considered an asset: Experience with the UN or a comparable international organization in Haiti context. Experience in capacity building (training, coaching).
Qualifications
A University degree in international relations, international law, development studies, conflict studies or another relevant discipline is required.
