Overview

The intern will support the team in Policy & Foreign Affairs Research, Stakeholder & Actor Mapping, and Knowledge & Brief Development. The role involves conducting research and analysis on policy priorities, mapping actors, and preparing briefs to support engagement with partners.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and analysis on policy priorities and positions of bilateral and multilateral partners in relation to disaster risk reduction and climate resilience.
  • Develop background briefs summarizing partners’ strategies, agendas, and areas of alignment.
  • Map existing and potential actors, including the private sector, philanthropy, and regional NGOs.
  • Maintain profiles of key stakeholders.
  • Prepare concise background notes and briefs on partners’ policy positions and emerging trends.
  • Compile key information to support engagement with governments, donors, and regional actors.
  • Track developments in foreign policy and donor strategies.
  • Provide short analytical updates.
  • Support coordination with regional and national partners.
  • Conduct research and mapping of relevant stakeholders, partnerships, and initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of donor briefs, proposals, and communication materials.
  • Conduct research on donor priorities, funding trends, and strategic entry points.
  • Contribute to the planning and organization of the Regional Platform.
  • Assist in drafting concept notes, session materials, and communication content.
Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); OR be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent).
  • Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.

Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of Arabic is desired.
