Overview
The Programme Analyst, Family Planning/Reproductive Health Commodity Security contributes to the effective planning, implementation and monitoring of UNFPA programmes in Afghanistan related to family planning and reproductive health commodity security. The role supports the delivery of UNFPA interventions aimed at strengthening access to reproductive health services and commodities.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, planning and implementation of UNFPA interventions related to family planning and reproductive health commodity security.
- Analyze political, social and economic trends affecting access to reproductive health services and commodities.
- Provide technical inputs to strengthen family planning programming and reproductive health commodity management.
- Support the integration of global standards, technical guidance and evidence-based approaches.
- Participate in relevant coordination mechanisms and technical working groups.
- Lead and support the strengthening of supply chain systems for reproductive health commodities.
- Coordinate and contribute to national forecasting and quantification exercises.
- Collaborate with relevant authorities and partners on annual procurement planning.
- Coordinate with UNFPA Supply Chain Management to ensure timely procurement, shipment tracking, quality assurance and delivery of commodities.
- Monitor stock status trends and proactively flag risks of stock-outs.
- Support inventory management, spot checks, audits, and compliance.
- Promote accountability, transparency, and last-mile assurance mechanisms.
- Manage the UNFPA Supplies Partnership Programme in Afghanistan.
- Develop and monitor work plans with implementing partners.
- Ensure results-based monitoring, timely reporting, and quality assurance.
- Document lessons learned and best practices.
- Strengthen coordination mechanisms with government counterparts, NGOs, and development partners.
- Assist in building capacity of implementing partners and stakeholders on RH supply chain system, and information tracking and management.
- Analyze the political, social, and economic environment in Afghanistan as it relates to FP/RH.
- Strengthen partnerships with local partners, civil society organisations and international actors.
- Contribute to preparation of concept notes, technical proposals, donor reports, and resource mobilization materials.
- Develop technical briefs, advocacy materials, and communication products.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or designated authority.
Required Experience
- At least 2 years of professional experience in reproductive health, family planning, and/or health supply chain management is required.
- Experience in programme/ project management including experience in large multi-sector projects, designing and appraising proposals and actively liaising with relevant and potential project partners, including civil society and private sector is desirable.
- Practical experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects is desirable.
- Field experience is an asset.
- Prior experience in the UN system is an asset.
- Experience using Microsoft Office software packages, Cloud applications, like Google Suite, and web-based ERP management systems, such as, the Oracle, Quantum, QuantumPlus, Quantum PowerBI, etc. is desirable.
- Some experience in health financing will be an added advantage.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree in Public health, Medicine or other related social science field is required.
