Overview

This online volunteering assignment will support a defined public communication project aimed at presenting selected aspects of the Division’s work in a clearer, more accessible and professional format for external audiences, particularly through LinkedIn.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare a short concept note outlining the proposed communication theme, target audience, tone, key messages, structure and suggested timeline.
  • Develop a structured content plan covering proposed topics, key messages, suggested publication sequence, visual needs and links to relevant public materials.
  • Draft at least 12 LinkedIn posts focusing on selected public human rights themes, the work of OHCHR South Sudan / UNMISS Human Rights Division, protection of civilians, accountability, rule of law, civic space, women’s rights, children’s rights, conflict-related sexual violence or other approved themes.
  • Create at least four visual products suitable for LinkedIn, such as infographics, quote cards, data snapshots, carousel slides or campaign banners, using only cleared and public information.
  • Compile a short set of proposed messages, captions, hashtags and short public-facing lines that can support the communication package.
  • Prepare a consolidated folder/package containing all draft posts, visuals, content plan, messaging bank and a short handover note explaining how the materials can be reviewed, finalized and used.
Required Experience

Demonstrated experience in communications, journalism, public information, media relations, or a related field, along with a strong ability to produce high-quality written communication materials and social media content for diverse audiences. Proficiency with social media platforms (X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) and content scheduling tools, as well as visual communication skills using tools such as Canva or Adobe Illustrator, are required. The ability to synthesize complex human rights or policy content into clear, accessible public-facing language is essential. Familiarity with United Nations communication standards, editorial guidelines, and visual identity frameworks is an asset.
