Overview
Research Assistants support the implementation of the Division’s programme of work, including technical cooperation and substantive activities aimed at strengthening the capacities of member States in the area of gender equality and care policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists in identifying and monitoring substantive aspects of the Division, including technical cooperation and technical assistance activities.
- Selects and evaluates documents, summarizes material, collects and analyses data, and prepares background materials.
- Systematically retrieves, highlights, and compiles information from various sources.
- Prepares input for the internet and cooperates with research institutes and Mechanisms for the Advancement of Women.
- Designs, prepares, and maintains country profiles.
- Prepares reports, presentations, tables, lists, charts, data sets, and diagrams.
- Participates in substantive and policy discussions.
- Maintains and expands contacts with other departments, UN agencies, programmes, and organizations.
- Prepares, maintains, and updates files and internal databases.
- Designs and generates periodic and ad hoc reports, statistical tables, charts, graphs, and background materials.
- Drafts programme/project summaries, coordinates review and clearance processes, and liaises with editors and translation services.
- Attends meetings, takes notes, and prepares summary reports.
- Provides guidance and training to new/junior staff.
- Assists with data collection and analysis, and preparation of data presentations and reports.
- Assists with visualizations and updating information material.
- Performs other related work as required.
Required Experience
- At least seven years of experience in collecting and researching data across various areas of social and economic development or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
- Experience in applying a gender perspective in the design, planning and implementation of research projects is required.
- Experience in strategic planning and project management, including in the context of technical cooperation is desirable.
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP is desirable.
- One year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Technical, vocational certificate or studies in business administration is desirable.
