Overview

This fellowship aims to increase national expertise and capacity in CAFI's six partner countries in sustainable development and climate change mitigation. The Fellow will gain experience in portfolio management, results monitoring, and programme support within the CAFI Secretariat.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support portfolio data consolidation, validation, structuring, and analysis.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of the project pipeline and delivery chains.
  • Monitor CAFI-funded programmes against annual workplans.
  • Support data aggregation for portfolio-level reporting.
  • Analyse and compile results at impact, outcome, and output levels.
  • Contribute to the development and use of portfolio monitoring tools.
  • Track and maintain a list of past and planned evaluations.
  • Extract lessons learned from evaluations.
  • Support the implementation of the CAFI Risk Management Strategy.
  • Support the gender marker analysis of the CAFI portfolio.
  • Contribute to the preparation of analytical material related to programmes.
  • Support coordination of programme evaluations.
  • Facilitate the development of knowledge management products.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical material for the Payments for Environmental Services (PES) scheme.
  • Support the preparation and follow-up of PES-related meetings and events.
  • Support the coordination between PES monitoring and the overall CAFI portfolio.
  • Support the preparation of training and communication material for the PES scheme.
  • Contribute to the development of the PES GIS portal and remote sensing platform.
  • Explore options for and support the integration of artificial intelligence for the PES remote sensing platform.
  • Support the development of methodological documents and user manuals for the PES platform.
  • Support the collection and integration of user feedback and bug fixing for the PES platform.
  • Build capacity of stakeholders on the PES remote sensing platform.
  • Support the CAFI Secretariat in organizing Executive Board meetings and technical exchanges.
Required Experience
  • At least one year of professional experience with national governments, universities, research institutions etc. on topics related to CAFI’s mandate (sustainable development, forestry, agriculture, land-use planning, land tenure, energy, mining or demography).
  • Experience in REDD+ and Payment for Environmental Services programmes is an advantage.
Qualifications

• Master’s degree in environment, sustainable development, forestry, rural development, climate change or related field.
