Overview

The Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Officer will support the implementation and management of the "Strengthening Maternal Health Care Services in Federated States of Micronesia" project, contributing to the coordination and smooth implementation of health system strengthening interventions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development of Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response tools and training of healthcare workers.
  • Support the establishment of Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response committees.
  • Coordinate the development of national Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response guidelines and annual reports.
  • Oversee the digitization of the data-capturing system.
  • Support training for healthcare providers in Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care, Antenatal Care, Postnatal Care, and respectful maternity care.
  • Support workshops on postpartum family planning and Human Papillomavirus Deoxyribonucleic Acid "screen and treat" protocols.
  • Support the development of training packages for the comprehensive management of Gender-Based Violence cases and the training of the health sector response to Gender-Based Violence.
  • Oversee the availability of essential Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Adolescent Health and Gender-Based Violence supplies.
  • Support Health Facility Readiness and Service Availability Assessment.
  • Oversee the refurbishment and remodeling of a maternity waiting home.
  • Support the strengthening of the referral pathways.
  • Support community awareness campaigns regarding birth preparedness, danger signs in pregnancy, cervical cancer, and Gender-Based Violence prevention.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the senior management and the supervisor.
Required Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in health, programme implementation, and donor reporting is required.
  • Good programme design skills, including the capacity to prepare logical, coherent, and consistent technical documents, including logical frameworks and budgets.
  • An understanding of policy and programme formulation, implementation, and monitoring would be an asset.
  • Experience in partnership management
  • Good writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, particularly in current office software applications
  • Initiative, sound judgment, and demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff members from different national and cultural backgrounds
  • Previous volunteer experience is desired.
  • Work experience with another international organization would be an asset.
  • The necessary computer skills with competence in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Netscape/Microsoft Outlook are required.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in International development studies, public health, social sciences, reproductive health, or related fields
