Overview
The Humanitarian Response and Recovery Coordinator will be responsible and accountable for coordinating and managing emergency operations programming within the Country Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor the implementation of all operational and administrative aspects of emergency related projects.
- Work in close collaboration to ensure coherent operation of emergency response and recovery/development activities.
- Ensure adequate IOM’s Response Preparedness by improving coordination and aligning programmatic response preparedness.
- Keep abreast of humanitarian policies, international standards and best practices, recommending incorporation of cross-cutting issues.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of all emergency project reports and coordinate preparation of updates and summaries.
- Guide and supervise staff responsible for emergency project implementation and coordinate training on emergency response.
- Identify new opportunities for emergency response and participate in the development of emergency project proposals.
- Ensure the provision of timely, accurate, standardized and adequate information to stakeholders regarding movements and conditions.
- Liaise with donor representatives and periodically brief them on current and planned programs.
- Participate actively in various fora, including inter-agency coordination groups and meetings with stakeholders.
- Undertake duty travel relating to need assessments, project monitoring, liaison, problem solving, and project development.
Required Experience
- Master’s degree with five years of relevant professional experience; or University degree with seven years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in project and budget management.
- Experience working in or on West African region.
- Experience at international level managing programmes with refugees, asylum seekers, managing offices and/or multi-cultural team.
- Experience in an international level of direct donor liaison.
- Regional experience in the direct care of refugees and/or care of people while in immigration administrative detention.
- Operational or field experience in migration related issues.
- Extensive experience in public relations, as well as in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities and institutional institutions.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Political Science, Social Sciences, Social Work, International Relations, Management or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
- University degree in the above fields.
