Overview
The Communications & Advocacy Manager leads WVSI's communications and advocacy functions, responsible for implementing the Communications Plan and contributing to the advocacy agenda to strengthen WVSI's public profile and influence on issues affecting children in Solomon Islands.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead WVSI's communications and advocacy functions.
- Implement WVSI's Communications Plan.
- Contribute to WVSI's advocacy agenda from a communications perspective.
- Strengthen WVSI's public profile and influence on issues affecting children.
- Oversee the Communications & Advocacy team.
- Manage the communications budget.
- Ensure communications and advocacy activities are strategic, high-quality, and aligned with World Vision's mission, brand standards, and safeguarding requirements.
- Serve as the sole line manager of the Content & Digital Coordinator.
- Undertake Communications and Advocacy Leadership.
- Engage in Advocacy.
- Manage Public Engagement & Media.
- Provide Content Oversight & Resource Mobilization Support.
- Handle Humanitarian Emergency & Disaster Communications (HEA Comms).
Required Experience
- At least 5 years' experience in communications, advocacy, media or a related field, with demonstrated progression in responsibility.
- Experience implementing advocacy strategies or campaigns and translating advocacy priorities into communications products and activities, ideally in a development or humanitarian context.
- Experience working with an INGO, UN agency or similar organization.
- Demonstrated experience in managing staff and/or teams.
- Experience in content production including writing, photography and/or video.
- Experience engaging with media and managing media relationships.
