Overview

The Communications & Advocacy Manager leads WVSI's communications and advocacy functions, implementing the Communications Plan and contributing to the advocacy agenda to strengthen WVSI's public profile and influence on issues affecting children in Solomon Islands.


Key Responsibilities
  • Leads WVSI's communications and advocacy functions.
  • Implements WVSI's Communications Plan.
  • Contributes to WVSI's advocacy agenda from a communications perspective.
  • Strengthens WVSI's public profile and influence on issues affecting children.
  • Oversees the Communications & Advocacy team.
  • Manages the communications budget.
  • Ensures communications and advocacy activities are strategic, high-quality, and aligned with World Vision's mission, brand standards, and safeguarding requirements.
  • Acts as the sole line manager of the Content & Digital Coordinator.
  • Undertakes Communications and Advocacy Leadership.
  • Engages in Advocacy.
  • Manages Public Engagement & Media.
  • Provides Content Oversight & Resource Mobilization Support.
  • Handles Humanitarian Emergency & Disaster Communications (HEA Comms).
Required Experience
  • At least 5 years' experience in communications, advocacy, media or a related field, with demonstrated progression in responsibility.
  • Experience implementing advocacy strategies or campaigns and translating advocacy priorities into communications products and activities, ideally in a development or humanitarian context.
  • Experience working with an INGO, UN agency or similar organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing staff and/or teams.
  • Experience in content production including writing, photography and/or video.
  • Experience engaging with media and managing media relationships.
