Overview

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning Specialist will contribute to the development and improvement of FAO’s field programmes and projects in Sudan through the management of a comprehensive data and knowledge base.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a results-based comprehensive MEAL framework.
  • Lead the process of project evaluation, including managing surveys, reviews, and final evaluations.
  • Design and lead baseline surveys.
  • Design and establish well-functioning grievance mechanisms.
  • Assist the Programme Unit with project formulation in regards to MEAL.
  • Provide capacity development for staff and partners on MEAL tools and systems.
  • Develop MEAL tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Provide oversight to all MEAL activities.
  • Establish a beneficiary accountability system and protocols.
  • Monitor project activities and progress towards achievement of results.
  • Undertake regular visits to the field to support implementation and identify adaptations.
  • Identify and formulate lessons learned from project evaluations and monitoring.
  • Participate in UN MEAL coordination structures.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience

Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation in a humanitarian and/or development contexts with good analytical and reporting skills. Consultants with a bachelor's degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in development studies, statistics, agriculture, economics or related fields; Consultants with a bachelor's degree need two additional years of relevant professional experience.
