Overview
The Radiologic Technologist will be responsible for processing screening X-ray of refugees and immigrants within the IOM Health Assessment Programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Take good quality chest X-ray images of migrants in accordance with IOM and international radiographic standards and resettlement countries technical instructions.
- Explain X-ray examination procedures to applicants and answer questions.
- Prepare equipment and examination rooms, perform ID checking, correct biodata entry, and standard labelling of radiographic images.
- Apply proper radiographic techniques and radiation protection procedures.
- Perform proper processing of digital images, review image quality, and repeat when necessary.
- Report important/urgent information to Radiologists and/or Physicians.
- Contribute to maintaining high-quality chest X-rays through proper utilization of radiographic techniques and adherence to technical requirements.
- Take the role of quality assurance focal person for the X-ray Unit, as needed.
- Participate in ensuring the overall radiation safety of applicants, staff, and the public.
- Take part in the regular and timely quality assurance of CR/DR X-ray machines.
- Contact technical service providers regarding maintenance and repair of X-ray equipment.
- Contribute in optimizing workflow in the Radiology Unit.
- Prepare daily worklists, barcodes, check applicant identity, radiographic counselling, upload digital Chest X-rays images, and/or burn images on CDs.
- Prepare statistical summary reports on operational activities of the Radiology Unit.
- Communicate with the Radiologist and/or Teleradiology Centers for reading of chest X-rays.
- Contribute in implementing infection control measures and maintaining a tidy work environment.
- Suggest additional measures to improve the quality, speed, or safety of radiological procedures.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
- Three years of relevant experience.
- Working experience in radiography, especially Chest X-Ray.
- Knowledge of digital radiology machine required.
- Knowledge and experience in radiology information systems and Picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) an advantage.
- Experience in screening chest X-ray an advantage.
Qualifications
• University Bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology from an accredited academic institution.
