Overview

The Staff Assistant (Health, Environment and Safety) provides specialized knowledge, support, and guidance on health, environmental, and safety matters, including occupational hygiene, to ensure compliance with legislation and recommend remedial measures.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts risk assessments and recommends remedial measures.
  • Develops HES policies and directives.
  • Monitors compliance with HES regulations.
  • Maintains compliance with HN authorities and agencies.
  • Investigates work-related accidents and recommends preventative measures.
  • Conducts workplace audits and inspections.
  • Plans and coordinates HES education/training sessions.
  • Stays abreast of professional developments.
  • Undertakes work as part of a project team or working group.
  • Participates in training and exercise events.
  • Collaborates with the HE&S Section Head.
  • Responsible for the correctness of legal-based recommendations and advice.
  • Has authority to stop all dangerous activities.
Required Experience
  • Higher Secondary education and completed higher vocational training in occupational health, health and safety or related discipline leading to a formal technical or professional certification with 3 years function related experience.
  • or Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in that discipline leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 5 years post related experience.
  • Requires broad HES background, including previous years of experience.
  • Experienced in coordination and communication of complex HES issues.
