Overview

The Child Protection Associate will conduct all steps of the case management process for assigned cases, focusing on protection monitoring, best interest assessments, and referrals for vulnerable individuals.


Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake protection monitoring visits and prepare assessment reports.
  • Conduct Best Interest Assessments and Determination reports for unaccompanied migrant children.
  • Assist in referring cases to relevant partners and other IOM units.
  • Identify urgent protection needs and possible solutions.
  • Refer vulnerable cases for voluntary humanitarian return and follow up on procedures.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of training and capacity building activities.
  • Participate in awareness raising events and workshops.
  • Contribute to the review of related materials and strengthening of tools.
  • Assist in conducting regular reports on CP, including drafting human-interest stories.
  • Participate in case-management meetings and maintain case-management records.
  • Participate in BID meetings with UN sister agencies.
  • Serve as the designated escort for individuals involved in protection cases and return movements.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
  • Maintain adherence to protection principles, IOM gender and PSEA policies.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of three-year professional experience in the field of Protection and assistance to vulnerable populations.
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to establish priorities and plans, ability to work under pressure and cope with deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution in international relations, Development; or Social Sciences, Business or Public Administration, Law or relevant field; with Three years’ experience in a relevant field, or
  • High School degree with 5 years of relevant professional experience.

Languages Required
Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of French is an advantage.
