Overview
The Protection Assistant is responsible for conducting protection activities, including information provision and participatory protection assessments, and implementing community-based protection activities, case management, and violence against women and men activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Identification of people in need of individual protection and ensure timely response
- Provide case management services in line with DRC Iraq guidance and case management standard operating procedure (SOP)
- Provide individual protection assistance in line with DRC Iraq guidance and individual protection assistance SOP
- Regular follow-up on assigned cases
- Provide psychosocial support throughout the case management process
- Conduct regular visits to targeted field locations for mobile intake and referral
- Participate in supervision and coaching sessions
- Participate in the implementation of awareness sessions
- Facilitate regular community consultations
- Participate in protection monitoring and raise protection concerns
- Identify beneficiaries in need of further support and ensure timely referral and follow-up
- Ensure all Protection activities comply with best-practice and international standards
- Participate in internal and external training
- Ensure all Protection activities are recorded and documented accurately and in a timely fashion on DRC Iraq’s IM system
- Implement all necessary MEAL tools
- Produce activity reports
- Support the Protection Officer and Protection TL with administrative tasks
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in protection in a humanitarian setting
- Experience in Humanitarian Protection activities and the delivery of community programs to vulnerable groups
Qualifications
• Diploma in social work, Humanities, Law, Counseling, psychology or another related field equivalent to a professional qualification
