Overview
The Protection Officer-General will support daily operations in DRC activities, including planning, implementation, and follow-up of Protection services. This role involves providing General Protection services and maintaining case data.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day management and monitoring of protection projects.
- Support core protection activities including assessments, monitoring, case management, community engagement, and referrals.
- Engage with government institutions, civil society, and other partners.
- Support the design and development of technical protection interventions.
- Provide on-the-job coaching and technical guidance to Protection Assistants.
- Maintain up-to-date mapping of service providers and coordinate with the Legal Aid team.
- Identify capacity building needs amongst Protection Assistants.
- Provide monthly or weekly work plans.
- Support the maintenance of a safe and confidential record-keeping system.
- Support the Protection Monitoring system.
- Ensure protection is mainstreamed during activity implementation.
- Conduct household visits and protection monitoring exercises.
- Update service mapping regularly.
- Manage and support community volunteers.
- Conduct internal and external referrals and monitor their provision.
- Work closely with the DRC legal team.
- Conduct awareness sessions with the community and stakeholders.
- Discuss urgent and challenging cases with the Area Programme Manager.
- Prepare and send daily/weekly field reports.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Report major issues to protection management.
- Collaborate with DRC colleagues to resolve problems.
- Collaborate with technical experts in developing Protection reports and materials.
- Plan and coordinate logistics and staff movements.
- Support protection assistants with financial procedures.
- Support monitoring and evaluation exercises.
- Draft and assist in procurement requests.
- Ensure compliance with DRC guidelines and policies.
- Perform any other relevant tasks as requested.
Required Experience
- Understanding of protection principles and minimum standards.
- Experience in facilitation of CBP activities, Case Management, Violence against women and men, and the delivery of community programs to vulnerable groups is preferred.
- Prior experience or familiarity with DRC and/or persons of concern (including internally displaced persons, returnees, and refugees).
- Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and prioritize the safety and dignity of beneficiaries.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in international law, Political Science, Psychology, Social work, Humanities and Social Science.
