Overview

Provide senior-level protocol expertise for high-profile ITU events, ensuring adherence to international diplomatic standards and seamless execution of engagements for Heads of State, Ministers, and other dignitaries.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement protocol strategies for high-level events.
  • Oversee VVIP/VIP engagement and logistical coordination, including invitations and seating.
  • Liaise with government and diplomatic counterparts, UN agencies, and host country authorities.
  • Coordinate with ITU and UN Protocol teams, Security, and event managers.
  • Serve as ITU’s official representative on protocol matters.
  • Advise ITU staff and volunteers on protocol training.
  • Lead on-site protocol execution and crisis management.
  • Provide briefing materials for senior staff.
  • Develop contingency plans for diplomatic or logistical challenges.
  • Represent ITU as Head of Protocol during conferences.
Required Experience
  • At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of the Special Service Agreement.
  • At least five (5) years of experience at the international level.
  • Experience in ITU conference management is required.
  • Knowledge of the ITU Constitution and Convention would be an advantage.
Qualifications
  • Advanced university degree in business administration, international relations, political science or related fields OR education from a reputed college of advanced education with a diploma of equivalent standard to that of an advanced university degree in one of the fields above.
  • A Doctorate in a related field can be considered as a substitute for three years of working experience.

• Knowledge of English at advanced level.
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of another official language of the Union (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) would be an advantage.
