Overview
The Senior Education Manager - Roving will provide leadership for the quality, timely, and effective implementation of PlayMatters 3.0 delivery in South Sudan, ensuring Learning through Play is translated into practical, classroom-level change.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, adaptation, and integration of inclusive Learning through Play (LtP) approaches.
- Provide technical leadership on development and contextualisation of inclusive LtP content, tools, and materials.
- Ensure timely and high-quality technical support to field teams and partners on the application of LtP.
- Oversee access to and effective use of teaching and learning materials.
- Lead the design and delivery of Teacher Continuous Professional Development (TCPD), including Training of Trainers (ToTs), Teacher Learning Cycles (TLCs), coaching, and supervision systems.
- Strengthen the capacity of teachers, school leaders, national partners, and community actors.
- Facilitate professional exchanges, peer learning, and collaboration platforms.
- Provide overall leadership for Outcome 2 implementation, ensuring activities are delivered on time, within scope, and to quality standards.
- Co-lead the development and monitoring of annual workplans, phased budgets, and performance plans.
- Maintain continuous analysis of the operating context.
- Develop and ensure adherence to implementation SOPs, tools, and delivery protocols.
- Support Implementation of outcome 3 when required.
- Ensure strong quality assurance systems across training, classroom implementation, and community engagement activities.
- Conduct regular field visits for supportive supervision, compliance monitoring, and documentation of lessons learned and best practices.
- Collaborate with RMEAL teams to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality data collection, reporting, and learning.
- Contribute to research, assessments, and evidence generation.
- Line manage, mentor, and support education staff and partner teams.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and continuous capacity strengthening of staff and partners.
- Foster a collaborative team environment.
- Strengthen and manage relationships with national partners.
- Coordinate closely with consortium partners and government stakeholders.
- Represent PlayMatters in technical forums, coordination platforms, and stakeholder engagements.
- Promote integration across sectors and workstreams.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in education programming, including teacher professional development and programme management in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Strong understanding of education systems in South Sudan, including teacher management, curriculum, and coordination structures.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and adapting educational content or training packages, preferably in low-resource or crisis contexts.
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience in mentoring, capacity strengthening, and managing diverse teams and partners.
- Experience working with INGOs and in humanitarian or refugee contexts is highly desirable.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in education, Teacher Education, Curriculum Studies, or a related field required; master’s degree is an added advantage.
