Overview
The Driver position supports all programs and is essential to the implementation of operations in Sierra Leone while maintaining the integrity of the fleet. The senior driver is responsible for the security of the vehicle and coordinating drivers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the good use and condition of the SCI fleet (vehicles and motorbikes).
- Enforce the application of the vehicle Policy.
- Ensure that “service and maintenance” forms and / other documentation are done in time and accompany the vehicle sent for maintenance.
- Ensure that the vehicles are properly secured and fueled.
- Make sure that any professional driver and whoever is driving a vehicle follow the SCI rules.
- Prior to each departure, check for any security notice or directives for travel area and plan movements in response.
- Organize and supervise the daily fleet inspection (confirming documents, equipment, adequate fluids and fuel).
- Arrange for necessary supplies and services.
- Be sure that all the fleet is clean outside.
- Maintain regular communication with teams regarding vehicle needs and conditions.
- Assist team members with proper completion of incident report and follow-up action.
- Transmit to the Fleet / Mechanic Officer all information, reports, forms regarding vehicles.
- File all information concerning the SCI fleet (documents, invoices, service).
- Be sure that all vehicle keys are kept in a secure place.
- Report to Fleet / Mechanic Officer all and any defects, no matter how minor.
- Supervise all maintenance on all SCI vehicles, internally done or external.
- Monitor the generator used for both normal operations and for security lighting at night where applicable, when there is no power, making sure it has sufficient fuel at all times.
- Act as the Fleet Officer responsible for fleet management whenever he is on leave or absent for other reasons.
- Perform other miscellaneous related duties as required by his supervisors.
Required Experience
- 3-5 years’ experience with non-governmental organization / NGO in the same role; supply chain and / or transport department.
- Experience managing fleets of vehicles and motorcycles
- Basic automotive mechanical skills
- Ability to manage groups of people and complete evaluations
- Experience working in a team environment
Qualifications
• Minimum SSS level or GCE O Level Certificate / WASSCE
