Overview

As a clinician, the Migration Health Physician will assist in implementing health-care activities delivered to migrant’s beneficiaries and take part in health screening of vulnerable populations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Reviewing client’s medical history and other medical information;
  • Monitoring vital signs and enquiring about relevant symptoms;
  • Conducting a thorough physical examination;
  • Reviewing x-ray(s), laboratory reports and advising regarding additional investigations or referrals;
  • Prescribing treatment regime per national standards;
  • Providing information and counselling to the client or affected family members and organizing follow-up;
  • Ensuring proper documentation of patient consultation;
  • Assisting in facilitating referrals and transportation of critical cases;
  • Acting as a medical escort for unwell patients;
  • Assisting national staff and providing technical support;
  • Informing the secondary referral centre about referred cases;
  • Assisting in the maintenance of medical equipment;
  • Undertaking regular duty travel and assisting in planning and completion of field activities;
  • Supporting monitoring and evaluation activities including entering medical information into health databases;
  • Submitting daily reports and necessary feedback to the supervisor;
  • Liaising and coordinating with local government and health authorities and other stakeholders;
  • Assisting the National Migration Health Officer with project monitoring and identifying priority health needs;
  • Taking part in health awareness campaigns;
  • Taking part in coordination meetings, workshops, training events and conferences;
  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience
  • At least 2 years of clinical medical experience following completion of MD/MBBS.
  • Previous experience in health-related programming, especially with UN agencies or INGOs.
  • Knowledge of and at least 2 years of experience in working in the field within the public health sector and medical emergencies is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in project development at an international organization is an advantage.
  • Trauma management experience is an advantage.
Qualifications
  • Completed university degree in Medicine from an accredited medical institution (MD/MBBS).
  • Current license to practice medicine in the country.

Fluency in French and the local language (Arabic) is required (oral and written).
