Overview
The UNV Associate for Participation and Empowerment for Climate Action will provide technical assistance, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs focused on developing skills, participation, education, and climate action for adolescents and youth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to UNICEF, implementing partners, local authorities, and other relevant actors to ensure the participation, leadership, and empowerment of adolescents and youth in climate action, environmental education, and biodiversity.
- Facilitate learning spaces for adolescents and youth to strengthen their socio-environmental skills and leadership.
- Promote the participation of adolescents and youth in decision-making spaces at territorial and national levels related to education and climate action.
- Identify and map alliances with governmental entities, grassroots organizations, and the private sector to strengthen youth participation in climate action, ensuring scalability and sustainability.
- Promote community empowerment, as well as that of adolescents and youth, around the right to participation, leadership protection, and climate action.
- Support capacity-building activities in socio-environmental skills, climate action, participation, and empowerment through material preparation and implementation support.
- Support the monitoring and tracking of indicators and goals for the project “Generation Green: Educating and Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Colombia”.
- Verify compliance with indicators, objectives, and activities, and report promptly on risks or deviations for management.
- Support the development of programmatic cooperation agreements (PCA) by providing inputs and contributing to the drafting of relevant sections.
- Prepare monitoring inputs and reports on performance indicators for the supervisor and team, promoting efficient management and accountability.
Required Experience
- 1 month of relevant experience.
- Experience in direct work with communities and adolescents.
- Experience in projects and programs for the rights of children, adolescents, and communities.
- Experience in facilitating non-formal education processes with children, adolescents, and/or youth.
- Experience in participation strategies, climate action, and/or education at the local or national level, in coordination with local authorities, civil society organizations, and other partners.
- Knowledge of approaches to participation, climate action, and environmental education.
- Experience in the classroom in official educational institutions is desirable.
- Experience working with a gender perspective and preventing sexual exploitation and abuse is desirable.
- Previous experience in the United Nations System is desirable.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in basic education, social sciences, human sciences, and/or environmental sciences.
