Overview
The job holder is primarily responsible for planning and ensuring quality and timely implementation of ECHO RISE core program within the designated district/ Sub-Counties/Settlement. He/she will assist the Project Manager/Project Coordinator in managing the ECHO RISE interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure planned interventions are implemented on time, within budget and meet quality benchmarks.
- Support orientation of Teachers, Head teachers, CCTs, SMCs, PTAs and children on the Save the children Quality Learning Environment (QLE) framework and Common Approaches.
- Liaise with the Office of the DEO, CCT and other stakeholders to develop an annual plan for BE interventions.
- Support the implementation of Save the Children Common Approaches of Teaching at the Right Level (TarL).
- Ensure Teachers’ salaries are paid every month.
- Ensure Teachers are appraised at the end of the project.
- Provide technical advice and expertise to teachers and Community Volunteers.
- Identify, document and disseminate best practices.
- Monitor the performance of education interventions and participate in monitoring and review activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date activity data.
- Report on activity progress and project outcomes.
- Represent Save the Children in interagency and stakeholder forums.
- Facilitate or participate in dialogue meetings, workshops and seminars focused on ECHO RISE.
- Build and maintain linkages with other agencies undertaking education interventions.
- Create and sustain positive working relationships internally and externally.
- Ensure coordination with government activities and structures.
- Mobilize the local community to participate in the ECHO RISE core project and other SCI Program activities.
- Support the formation, functionality and capacity building of Core groups including PTAs, SMCs.
- Support the participation of children, community and partners in planning, monitoring and implementation.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports by the 27th of each month.
- Participate in preparation of Semi-annual and annual project progress reports.
- Ensure activity reports are prepared and filed for every completed activity.
- Undertake documentation of best practices and lessons learned.
- Undertake regular monitoring visits to supported schools.
- Contribute to data collection, analysis and reporting on key programme indicators.
- Ensure funds requested for programme activities are spent and accounted for.
- Review, understand and declare commitment to observe and implement child safeguarding policy.
- Work with supervisors and Child Safeguarding Focal persons to ensure child abuse or potential risks are recorded, reported and filed.
- Observe confidentiality of child information.
- Support meaningful and age-appropriate participation of children in Basic Education activities.
- Work with Sponsor servicing department to ensure enrolled children benefit from programme intervention.
- Implement the complaints response mechanism.
Required Experience
- At least 3 years of progressive working experience in planning and implementing Education programmes with INGOs.
- At least two years of teaching experience in primary schools or as a Tutor in Primary Teachers’ College.
- Experience of working with the Local Government, and local partners with focus on improving the learning environments is an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
Qualifications
- At least a bachelor’s in education preferably in Teacher education is essential.
- An additional qualification such as a Diploma in Teacher Education is an added advantage.
