Overview

This internship involves fact-checking for the Global Sustainable Development Report and supporting the Division for Sustainable Development Goals (DSDG) in coordinating the implementation of the UN's sustainable development agenda.


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare a fact-checking matrix containing all facts referenced in the report, including page and paragraph numbers and sources.
  • Compile references for the bibliography, formatting sources into endnotes and producing a reference list/bibliography.
  • Draft short research inputs compiling evidence on specific sustainable development research topics.
  • Carry out statistical analysis as required, compiling data and undertaking analysis to produce draft tables, graphs, and calculations.
Required Experience

Experience with reference management tools (Endnote, Zotero, Mendeley), knowledge of citation styles, and familiarity with academic peer review and editorial processes. Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
