Overview
The Senior Technical Consultant will support the Africa Migration Data Network (AMDN) Secretariat in its start-up and implementation phase, focusing on operational planning, analytical support, and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate AMDN frameworks into a 6-12 month operational work plan with milestones and deliverables.
- Provide analytical input on the African migration and displacement data landscape, identifying gaps and priorities.
- Support the operational establishment of the AMDN Secretariat and Steering Committee.
- Assist with the planning and organisation of AMDN-related meetings and technical events.
- Prepare donor briefing notes and support resource mobilisation efforts.
- Facilitate coordination among key AMDN stakeholders and support the establishment of communication mechanisms.
- Develop AMDN communication materials and visibility approach.
Required Experience
- At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in migration/demographic statistics, data governance or migration policy analysis, with substantial work in or on Africa.
- Demonstrated experience working with or advising African continental/regional bodies (e.g. AUC/STATAFRIC, RECs, African Migration Observatory, AfDB).
- Proven experience in resource mobilisation (donor engagement, proposal development).
- Experience coordinating multi-country/regional projects and working directly with NSOs and government counterparts.
Qualifications
• Advanced Degree (Master’s or higher) in Statistics, Demography, Economics, Migration Studies, Public Policy, International Relations or related field
