Overview

This internship focuses on supporting country-level and sub-regional programmes within the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. The role involves assisting with project planning, monitoring, reporting, and communication activities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and implementing, monitoring and reporting and evaluating of regional and country-level projects and programmes;
  • Support inter-agency collaboration and collaboration between country teams;
  • Assist in the administration, budgeting and other management aspects of new and ongoing projects;
  • Support tracking of and responding to funding calls and support resource mobilization;
  • Support information and knowledge management;
  • Assist in the preparation of concept and position papers, background documents. project documents and publications;
  • Assist with communication and drafting of web stories and with the management of information and website content;
  • Assist in the preparation, implementation and follow-up of various meetings and workshops;
  • Undertake other assignments as required for the development and implementation of the work programme of ROAP
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher),
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent),
  • Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.

Languages Required
Fluency in oral and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
