Overview
The purpose of this consultancy is to support UNICEF Innocenti’s comparative research on formal youth governance mechanisms in national and multilateral arenas, contributing to the learning, documentation, and synthesis agenda connected to the Leading Minds Fellowship on Climate Education.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of a comparative analysis on intergenerational governance and participation.
- Support the development of a portfolio of comparative country case studies, tracing participation-to-impact pathways.
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and analysis of research examining participation pathways.
- Support the development of analytical outputs examining intergenerational governance under conditions of conflict, fragility, displacement, and constrained civic space.
- Contribute to comparative analysis examining how public investment, institutional location, and demographic context influence youth-focused governance arrangements.
- Support the development of high-quality knowledge products, including comparative reports, thematic publications, analytical notes, and policy briefs.
- Contribute to translating research findings into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Support the development of practical tools and guidance for UNICEF Country Offices.
Required Experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience in research and/or evidence synthesis with a focus on children and youth.
- Demonstrated development and implementation of participatory methodologies.
- Be a named author/co-author of at least 3 publications of global scope and policy impact relevance.
- Knowledge and experience of convening in virtual settings, with strong familiarity with digital workspaces, communication tools and conferencing platforms.
- Experience of engaging in child and/or youth networks.
- Demonstrated ability to set high standards for quality of work and consistently achieve project goals.
- Solid writing, analytical, problem-solving, writing and presentation skills, particularly in the context of international work settings.
- Strong interpersonal skills including developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal and external partners.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Research, Youth Participation, Training and Facilitation, Evidence Synthesis, Writing or another technical field relevant to the work of UNICEF.
