Overview
Manages and implements designated projects within the Energy and Environment Unit, ensuring alignment with UNDP policies and procedures, and contributing to Kazakhstan's Paris Agreement commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate projects, ensuring results align with Project Documents and UNDP POPP.
- Manage day-to-day organizational and substantive issues, budgeting, planning, and monitoring.
- Develop Annual Work Plans and support the Project Board.
- Coordinate project exit strategy and ensure closure per procedures.
- Provide policy advice and capacity development to national counterparts.
- Develop and implement M&E Plan, monitor progress, and manage risks.
- Ensure timely preparation of donor and project reports.
- Oversee financial monitoring and compliance.
- Maintain risk and issue logs.
- Coordinate partner meetings and field visits.
- Support mid-term reviews and terminal evaluations.
- Track implementation of cross-cutting plans.
- Utilize Quantum and digital tools for data management.
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with stakeholders.
- Identify and mobilize new partnerships and funding sources.
- Facilitate knowledge and capacity building, knowledge sharing, and advocacy.
- Support establishment of knowledge platforms and develop knowledge resources.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years (with master’s degree) or 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience at the national or international level in providing management advisory services, and/or hands-on experience in design, monitoring and evaluation, leading and managing development projects.
- Experience in the use of computers, office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and web-based management systems, and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages.
- Working experience within the UN system in implementing development projects.
- Working experience with ministries and/or other national institutions.
- Ability to work effectively with fellow partners at all levels and with all groups.
- Additional years of work experience as a manager/coordinator in project implementation and the ability to manage conflicting priorities and tight timelines.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social, Economic, Environmental Sciences, or other related sciences is required; or A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above with additional 2 years of qualifying experience.
